Overseas Qualifications

Working holiday registration is not available in Queensland.

If you hold a qualification from outside of Australia or New Zealand, you will need to contact the Australian Physiotherapy Council (APC). The APC has a two-step recognition process:

  • Firstly the APC will assess your eligibility to undertake the APC examinations and if your qualifications and skills satisfy the APC eligibility criteria you will then be invited to undertake the professional examinations (written and clinical exams);
  • Upon successful completion of the written examination process you will be issued an APC Interim Certificate and receive confirmation from the APC of your eligibility to apply to register to practise as a Physiotherapist.

You may only apply to the Board for registration if you possess the APC Interim Certificate. The registration application steps are as follows:

  • complete and send in the Board's General Registration Application Form (PHY 101) enclosing a certified copy of your APC Interim Certificate;
  • to streamline the registration process, it is recommended that you also complete and submit with your application:
  • the Board will consider granting you General Registration with Conditions allowing you to practise under supervision while you prepare for the final step (clinical exam) of the APC examination process.

When you have completed the full APC examination process and received your APC Final Certificate you will need to provide the Board with a certified copy so that the Board can consider removing the conditions from your General Registration.
